Why are 10x+ servers almost always modded?

A gather rate above 10x changes how the game plays, so Facepunch asks that these servers sit in the Modded tab. On this shelf nearly every server carries the modded tag. A vanilla tag means base difficulty, not the rate, so read both.

What changes when the rate goes past 10x?

You farm far less and fight far more. Nodes and trees give ten times the resources or more, so a starter base goes up in minutes. Servers at 20x and above often add kits and teleports on top, and raids happen sooner and more often.

How do I pick a 10x+ server for my group size?

Check the team limit in the settings column. Most of this shelf allows up to 8 players, which is Rust's default. A few cap at 5, and some allow clans of 50 or more. If you play solo or duo, a low limit will suit you better.
