Rank is players over the last seven days. A big server showing offline while the rest are up is that server restarting or wiping, not Rust being down.

The verdict at the top of this page is our own reading of the server list, and it tells you whether the servers are up right now. It is not a promise about one server; it is stock on the shelves as a whole.

We count how many servers are listed and how many players are on them, then set that against what is normal for this hour of the day. Mornings are quiet, evenings are busy, so the same figure can read differently at 09:00 and at 21:00. That is why the verdict is a comparison, not a raw number.

  • Around the usual count or better: servers are up, stock is normal.
  • Clearly below the usual count: something is wrong on the network side, and we say so.
  • Below half the usual count: an outage, and the shelves are bare.

The 48-hour chart below shows the last two days in five-minute steps. A flat line at the wrong height, or a sudden cliff, is what a real outage looks like in the numbers.

We also read the biggest servers on their own, since they carry most of the players. If those are listed and counting players, the public list is working and any empty server browser is likely yours. If the biggest are missing too, the problem is wider than one server.

If this page says servers are up but yours is empty

Look at the time under the verdict first: it says when the list was last read, normally within six minutes. Past about twenty-five minutes, the page says its reading is behind rather than guess.

If the list is fresh and your game shows nothing, the gap is between you and Steam. Restart Steam, then Rust, because the in-game browser is fed by Steam and a stale login can show an empty list. Check your filters next: a region or tag set weeks ago can hide every server. Then check Steam's own status, since its list going down empties every game's browser. On force wipe day, update Rust before trying again. A VPN or strict firewall can block the traffic the browser uses; try it off.

For one missing server, open its page: it shows when it was last seen and whether it is simply restarting or wiping. Browse the full server list or the live player count for the numbers behind this page. Fresh stock arrives with each wipe; just wiped servers are the newest on the shelves.

Questions

Are Rust servers down right now?

The verdict on this page is live, based on the full server list read every five minutes and compared with the usual count for this hour. At roughly the usual count, servers are up. Well below half is an outage. The time under the verdict tells you when the list was last read.

Why does Rust show no servers when this page says they are up?

Then the problem is between you and Steam, not with Rust itself. Restart Steam, then Rust, clear your server browser filters and check whether Steam is down. On force wipe day, update the game before trying again, and try with any VPN off.

How fresh is the server status on this page?

The list is read every five minutes, so the verdict is normally under six minutes old. The timestamp under it says exactly when the last read happened. If it is past about twenty-five minutes, the page tells you the reading is behind instead of guessing.
